Yeast Infection Symptoms

Yeast is scientifically termed as Candida. Yeast infection is often termed as candidiasis, and a big group of fungi or yeasts stand responsible for this candidiasis. There are more than 20 species of Candida; however, the most common of them is candida albicans.
These fungi live on our body at regular basis; under certain abnormal condition these fungi become numerous in number causing major infection in body particularly in moist areas of our body. Common examples of candida yeast infections are thrush, vaginal yeast infection, diaper and skin rash, and nail bed infections.
The general symptoms for yeast infection are itchiness, burning sensation in infected place, sore ness, and redness of skin tone. Although the intensity of infections may vary from one person to another, there are some specific symptoms for each type of yeast infections.
Vaginitis is a common yeast infection found in adult women only. Itchiness, burning sensation at the time of passing urine, redness in vagina, pain in vagina during intercourse, soreness, and in some instances the patient may feel the problem of vaginal discharge.
Diaper rash also is caused by yeast infection. Children and bed ridden senior members mainly suffer from this infection. In case of diaper rash, a few general symptoms are observed in the affected children, like bright red rash in the diaper area, red and scaly labia and vagina for the girls child, red and scaly area on scrotum and groin are of baby boys, occurrences of pimples, ulcers, blisters, large bumps, and pus-filled sores, and occurrences of small red patches in here and there etc.
Diaper rash is extremely painful and makes the affected children crying and in disturbed mood always. It affects seniors also with pain and discomforts in the diaper area. The children or the adults may develop a scratching tendency on the affected skin in absence of the diaper.
Nail bed infection is also known as onychomycosis; it is caused by Candida yeast infection.
Those who suffer from nail bed yeast infection may suffer from some symptoms like discoloration of nails, inflammation of nail, abrupt and negative change in nail texture, separated nail from the bed, and the constant feeling of itchiness as well as of pain, sudden appearance of yellow spot at the corner of the infected nail, etc. and if these symptoms left untreated there is high chance to get the nail damaged for ever.
