Women’s Health – Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is a cancerous disease where malignant cells form in the cervix part of a woman. Cervix is the last part of uterus, is a kind of hollow, pear like organ where the fetus grows up. Cervix connects uterus with vaginal canal.

Cervical cancer develops slowly and it takes time to how the symptoms in the cell wall of the cervix. But long before the changeover takes place, the cell wall of the cervix gets affected and the abnormality is shown on the appearance of the cells. This condition is known as dysplasia. Later on cancerous cells starts growing rapidly and spread all through the cervical region.

This cancer infection takes place only in matured women and not in the baby girls normally. Human Pappilomavirus (HPV) infection acts as the high risk factor for the infection of cervical cancer. However, it is not obvious that all HPV infected women will have cervical cancer as the ultimate result. Regular Pap smear test is the diagnostic process to be sure about the health and well being of cervix and those women are reluctant to take the test after the age of 40 in regular basis remains in the high-risk zone of infection from cervical cancer.

There are some other factors may held equal responsible for the infliction of cervical cancer disease like:

Having child delivery for multiple time

Having multi sexual partner,

Indulging abortion many times

Having experience of first sexual intercourse in immature age

Having habit of smoking

Use of oral contraceptive pills for a prolong time

Weak immunity system

Although there is no particular symptom for early stage of cervical cancer but by doing Pap smear test regularly the early detection of the disease can be traced out. Chance of recovery from this carcinogenic disease is more optimistic if this disease is detected early.

Probable symptoms for cervical cancer are cervical pain, and abnormal bleeding from vagina.
Some other symptoms and recurrence of abnormality need to be investigated clinically if there is problems like:

Unusual vaginal discharge

Vaginal bleeding

Pelvic pain

Unusual pain during sexual intercourse

Diagnostic tests like Pap smear, Colposcopy, Biopsy, Pelvic Exam, and Endocervical curettage are used for the detection of cervical cancer in a woman.
