Uterine Fibroids
Uterine Fibroids are found in women irrespective of their age and socio economic status. It is actually a growth in uterus; benign or non-cancerous growth of tissues in or around the uterine region. Fibroids are mostly found in women in the age range of 30-50. The most common and cute symptoms of fibroids are pain at the time of menstruation, heavy bleeding at the time of periodical menstruation, back pain, and feeling of discomfort and pain at the time of physical intercourse.
The size of fibroid tumors vary from one person to another, it may be small or may be huge like a ball.
Child bearing age is the vulnerable age for women having fibroid in uterus but any definite cause for this ailment is not still clear. Extensive research has discovered some associated factors which initiates formation of fibroid like Obesity is one of the main reasons for forming fibroid, the problem of over weight contribute a lot in forming fibroid, the women who are unmarried up to middle age are prone to have fibroid, research and survey reveals that African American women are more vulnerable to this disease at their young age.
The acute symptoms of fibroids are heavy bleeding during periodical menstruation, pain at the time of intercourse, pain in passing urine, several miscarriage in case of married woman, sever anemia, back pain, frequent feeling of fullness in lower abdomen, constipation, pelvic thrust and pressure, and infertility in women.
Prognosis for fibroid can be done by some diagnostic tests like A small tissue is taken out inside uterus to detect fibroid; this is known as Endometrial Biopsy. It is suggested to do MRI scan when fibroid is large in size and there is some technical difficulties to do ultra sound properly.
In general case ultrasound is the normal test procedure to detect fibroid in uterus.To detect the existence of fibroid, internal diagnosis of the womb is done by the doctors, it helps to find the size and location of the fibroid.
