Uterine Cancer [Endometrial]
Uterine cancer is abnormal cell growth in the wall of the uterus. The lining or wall of the uterus is termed endometrium. Endometrial cancer is also known as cancer of uterus and it is observed mainly in women of above 50 years or more of age. Although it is carcinogenic in nature, it is generally detected in its early stage and on proper treatment, it gets fully cured.
The most common cause of endometrial cancer is excess presence of hormone estrogen in comparison to hormone progesterone. Due to this imbalance, the wall of uterus tends to get thicker and ultimately triggers abnormal malignant growth.
The women who experience this problem of hormone imbalance, may develop uterine cancer onward their 50 years of age.
The problem of hormonal dis-balance is seen in a women on some specific conditions like obesity, intake of estrogen but not balancing the requirement of progesterone, polycystic ovary syndrome had the puberty before 12 year and had the menopause after 55, never had been pregnant, and in case she had never done breast feeding.
The general symptoms for uterine cancer is experiencing of heavy vaginal bleeding after menopause. In case of 20 women out of 100 who experience post-menopausal bleeding is found inflicted by uterine cancer.
In advanced stage frequent weight loss become one of the major symptoms of this type of cancer.
Uterine or endometrial cancer is diagnosed by biopsy. A tiny portion of uterus lining is removed in order to detect the presence of abnormal cells in this area.
In its early diagnosis the doctors suggest to remove fallopian tube, cervix and ovaries to stop the malignant growth. In case of advanced stage where the infection has spread the doctors prefer to eliminate pelvic lymph nodes.
As the complete cure process the uterus infected women may undergone the treatment of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and in some specific case the treatment of hormone therapy is advised and executed.
