Urinary Incontinence In Men

Urinary incontinence is the sudden and unpredictable release of urine; urinary incontinence itself is not a problem in men but it denotes a problem in his urinary tract.

Urinary incontinence is triggers due to different reasons, sometimes it is found as short time incontinence triggered by some abnormal situations or in some cases it is found to be a chronic problem. In some specific cases urine incontinence is caused as a side effect of some ongoing treatment procedure.

Urine incontinence occurs due to malfunctioning of the muscle control of bladder. It is segregated in four major categories depending on the type of trigger.

Stress incontinence is caused due to sudden exposure to sneezing, coughing, and laughing or some unpredictable attempt to lift up something heavy from the ground. The activities create extra pressure on urinary bladder causing the incontinence.

Urge incontinence is the losing control on the bladder urge to pas out urine. In general, overloaded bladder initiates to urge incontinence which is prevented by muscular resistance backed by our conscience. In urge continence without any reason bladder leaks. Urge continence takes place when the contraction of bladder becomes absolutely unpredictable.

Overflow incontinence is the problem of incontinence when due to weak muscle movement the bladder cannot be emptied totally and prevalently this happens due to obstruction in urinary passage. It may happen due to enlarged prostrate or in case of narrow urethra due to scar tissues.

Total incontinence of urine is caused due to loss of control in sphincter function and initiate continuous leakage of urine. Sometimes functional incontinence is found in some patients it happens due to the inability to reach toilet in time.

Although urinary incontinence may occur in both men and women, in men the problem of incontinence happens mainly due to enlarged prostrate. Sometimes urinary incontinence is triggered by consumption of alcohol, cold medicines without prescriptions, and antidepressants and sedatives without doctor’s consultation.

In case of stress incontinence small amount of urine occurs at the time of sneezing or coughing or at laughing.

In case of urge incontinence the symptoms are the failure to go for bathroom at the time of toilet urge, and the bladder contraction is spontaneous not under control of the affected person.

Overflow incontinence causes small amount of urine at the urge for urine passing or unrestrained passing of urine in form of drops.
