Treating Tonsillitis the Natural Way
Tonsillitis is a problem that is caused when the tonsil glands at the sides of the throat get severely inflamed, enlarged and infection occurs. It is accompanied by fever, pain in the throat, difficulty in eating food, and often pain in the ears. Sometimes pus also forms in such infectious tonsils and it becomes extremely painful.
Here are suggested a few ways to deal with tonsillitis:
Milk is an effective natural cure for tonsillitis. A pinch of turmeric powder, along with a pinch of pepper powder added to a warm glass of milk should be taken every night before going to bed for three continuous days at least to bring relief.
Fenugreek seeds can be added in a liter of water and let to simmer in flame. After that it has to be kept aside to let the mixture cool. Then the mixture has to be used to gargle throughout the whole day several times as and when possible. This has proved beneficial for lots of people suffering from tonsillitis.
A lime freshly cut and squeezed into a glass of warm water, and adding four to five teaspoons of honey and little salt should be made to drink in small quantities slowly to soothe the throat.
Vegetable juice of cucumber, carrot, and beet can be taken combined together or alone to treat tonsillitis. Other remedies include consuming garlic as it has ant biotic properties; Oregano herb is also good in providing relief due to its antiseptic elements.
Viola odorata or popularly Banafsha flowers can be helpful in treating such a condition. For this purpose banafsha flowers should be taken and boiled in milk and then properly strained to discard the flowers and the milk then should be taken to treat the inflamed tonsils.
Tonsillitis makes it difficult to swallow food as it hurts in the throat. Therefore certain diet modifications can also be made. Liquid drinks like fruit juices help to soothe the throat as well as give the body the essential nutrients. Rich, spicy diet has to be avoided at any cost and especially foods like yoghurt, buttermilk and fried foods that tend to disturb the throat.
Bath can be taken with Epsom salt added in hot water daily and exercising should not be left, rather done regularly. Breathing exercises will especially help a person suffering from tonsillitis.
