Testicular Torsion

Testicular torsion is a surgical emergency requirement for the affected person. It this fatal problem is not treated in time it may cause loss of the affected testicles for ever. It is terrible painful health disorder in which the spermatic cord gets twisted resulting in inadequate supply of blood inside the testicle. As testicles tissues cannot survive without blood supply, in case the torsion the affected testicle gets acutely damaged.

Generally, this severe disorder occurs in case of grown up males at the juncture of their adolescence to adulthood stage.

In most of the cases the problem of testicular torsion is triggered by an anatomic anomaly which is medically termed as bell clapper deformity. Due to this anatomic deformity the spermatic cord tends to get twisted and cause fluctuation of blood supple in testicles.

This deformity can be caused by some trauma or it may be a spontaneous occurrence of health disorder. Out of the range of testicular torsion cases, about 40% of the patient of testicular torsion gets problem with both the testicles.

These cases where the problem of torsion is present with both the testicles, is terms as bilateral problems; here both the testicles are affected by the discrepancy of torsion.

The most acute symptom for testicular torsion is acute testicular pain. As the problem is generated due to twisted spermatic cords, the testicle gets elevated as well. The patients of testicular torsion may feel nausea and vomiting.

They may suffer also from acute abdominal pain. In certain situations, fever is observed in the torsion affected patients; in some cases, previous history of testicular pain are found in track record of the patients with testicular torsion problem.

Testicular torsion itself is an emergency situation so it is better to contact a medical professional in case the patient feels any pain in his testicles. In case of abnormal testicular pain and swelling the patent need to shifted to nearest health care center to judge the nature of the pain by random image processing.

If it is detected as a case of testicular torsion, immediate surgical intervention can save the affected testicle from being permanently damaged.
