Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer is the carcinoma of testes (testicles). Testis is the organ responsible for producing male sex hormone and sperm for reproductive process and it is located inside scrotum below the penis within a loose skinny bag like structure. In comparison to other type of cancer, testicular cancer in rarely found; however in USA, this cancerous disease is most common one and it hits American males between 15-35 years of age range.

This type of cancer is very much curable with proper medical intervention and treatments even in the advanced stage, with one or combined type of treatment therapies. However, regular self-checks minimize the risk of having this ailment.

There are many symptoms of this ailment like

A feeling of discomfort and heaviness in the scrotum, a lump like growth or some other growth in any testis which can be felt from outside, a chronic discomfort and dull pain in lower abdomen or in the groin region, a sudden abnormality of accumulation of fluid in scrotum, feeling of lethargy and dizziness, and discomfort in testis but it is not necessary that one affected patient of this disorder will face all thee problems and symptoms together. Generally, testicular cancer affects only one testicle.

The cause for this cancerous disease is still unknown but it is obvious that the abnormalities start in germ cells—where immature sperm cells are produced.

Although the medical reasons are not yet known, but the risk factors related to this disorder are still in research stage and relentless studies are going on this field. Some of the risk factors are like Race, where this disease is more found in white men than in black people and that is why this disease is not very common in tropical countries.

Although it may occur at any age, still in between 15-35 age this problem occurs more. This problem has a recurring effect from genetic history.

The disease initiates abnormal growth of testicles like Klinefelter’s Syndrome increases the risk of having this carcinoma.

Self check is the best detection for this problem. If you feel ever any kind of discomfort in you testis or in the groin area, like swelling, pain, inside lumps and the problem persists more than 15 days, you should visit a doctor immediately. Proper treatment cures this disease completely.
