Tension Headache

Out of the types of headaches, tension headache is the most common type and as prevalent from the name, it is generated from suppressed tension. This kind of headaches are mostly seen in women then in men and in case of 30-50% case of headache in women is caused by the tension headache, which is also named as stress headache, chronic head aches, muscle contraction headache, and sometimes daily headache.
This kind of headache is often called as daily headache as this kinds of headache begins in the middle of the day and comes as a chronic problem for almost everyday. While episodic tension headache occurs once or twice in a month chronic tension headache may occur concurrently and disturbs daily flow of work.
There is no particular reason for tension headache. Neither it is an inherited disease nor is it a shortcoming in health system. In certain people tension headache I created due to sudden imposed stiffness in back of the neck and in the scalp. In case of other the cause is still unknown and research is going on this issue.
In most of the cases, the problem lies with the environmental or internal stress and anxiety which causes tension headache. The most common sources of stress include family, social relationship, working area, school and its activities, and friends circle and different factors related to friend circle.
In case of chronic headache daily stress can contribute a lot triggering reason, build up stressor isolated stressful situation may initiate the problem of episodic headache problem.
The intensity of tension headache ranges from mild to severe headache and it says from 30-minute duration to whole day long. The headache lasts as a band like discomfort on forehead, scalp, or in neck head area.
The other symptoms may include unusual fatigue, headache upon weakening, disturbed concentration, irritation, difficulty in sleeping, mild sensitivity to noise and light, and drowsiness after the headache episode is over.
Normally, mild exercise, deep breathing, taking rest, short nap, or taking mild pain killers cures this sort of pain. In case of daily repetition of this problem stress management therapy can be practiced to cure the suffering patient from this daily irritating headache episode.
