Sinus Symptoms
According to anatomy, sinus is a cavity in a body organ or in a tissue . Paranasal sinuses are commonly termed as Sinus, which denote empty air cavities in the cranial bone in a body. These cavities are found the nose surrounding places including frontal sinuses near/over the eyes within blow area, inside cheekbone, it is called maxillary sinus, behind the nose bridge in between two eyes is called Ethmoid sinuses, and sphenoid sinuses which are located just behind ethmoids behind the eyes and upper portion of the nose.
The symptoms of sinusitis depend on the type of sinusitis that means the position of the hollow space on the skull of the sinus affected person.
Ethmoid sinus is the problem where the hollow space is situated between two eyes. The general symptoms for this type of sinus are nasal congestion with regular discharge, postnasal drip which is a condition where mucus comes down the throat way from nose.
The patients of Ethmoid sinus very often feel pressure in eye surrounding region and lower side of the nose. These patients often suffer from headache in eye closer region or at the temples and in frequent spell they suffer from moderate to high fever problem.
In Maxillary sinus the hollow space is found in the cheekbones; general symptom of maxillary sinus is nasal congestion and discharge, sensitive cheekbone, sensitivity of under eye area, on both the sides of the face, and on upper teeth region. Additionally, the patients may suffer from frequent spell of fever and from the problem of post nasal drip issue.
In case of frontal sinusitis, the hollow cavity exists in the place above the eyebrows, and on the forehead. Apart from feeling pain in the forehead region, frontal sinus patients may face problem of frequent spell of fever, severe span of headaches, and frequent episode of postnatal drip.
In case of sphenoid sinus problem, the hollow space exists in deep region of head and at the rear position of nose. The patient may feel the problem of severe headache and the centers of headache are found on the top or rear portion of head, rear portion of the eyes, and on the forehead region.
Frequent spell of mild to moderate fever, postnasal drip, and constant botheration of nasal congestion with discharge, and double vision are the general symptoms for sphenoid sinus problem.
In case of any of these symptoms two or three together are seen in a patient or the patient feels any of the symptoms, it is recommended to contact doctor for further diagnosis and suggestion at the earliest.
