Signs and Symptoms for Menorrhagia [Heavy Bleeding]

For some women menstruation bleeding become a great agony because of intolerable pain and heavy bleeding. In these instances, the bleeding and cramp become that much intensified that it seems to be difficult for the suffering ladies to carry on with their regular activities. This kind of troublesome heavy period is known as menorrhagia.

A menorrhagia affected lady may experience blood loss of around 81ml or more during her menstrual period, whereas, in normal cases a woman may lose  in an average 30-45 ml blood during her menstrual bleeding days.

Although the general signs and symbols of menorrhagia differ from one woman to other there are some general symptoms related to menorrhagia which are mentioned here with brief details.

Menorrhagia affected women may suffer from continuous requirement of changing sanitary pads in around one hour interval for multiple successive hours. Some times they may require double coated protection for controlling the intensity of menstrual blood flow to take care their privacy.

In most of the instances, menorrhagia affected ladies have to use for the extra protection at night and sometimes the extra protection demands replacement of the protection arrangement at least once during night.

In case of menorrhagia affected women, the menstrual bleeding period may last for 7-10 days. In most of the instances, menstrual blood flow carries large blood clots. The intensity of blood flow gets increased to such an extent that it may create severe interruption in carrying on with regular course of activities.

The women suffering from menorrhagia will show obvious discomfort of tiredness, shortness of breath and unconditional fatigue during the days of menstrual bleeding. Recurring symptoms of  anemia due to regular blood loss issue due to heavy menstrual bleeding is often been observed between menorrhagia affected women.

In most of the instances, the complications of menorrhagia can be managed by self-care remedies, however, in case of heavy bleeding accompanied by pain and other associated discomforts, the patients should visit doctor’s place for immediate consultation. It is again another necessity to record the details about the bleeding details per month basis.

Maintaining healthy weight, regular pelvic exercise, regular intake of high fiber diet, and maintaining balance for internal hydration level of body are the self-care preventions for arresting the discomforts of menorrhagia unless it is not occurred due to any internal disorder.
