Self Care Treatments of Sunstrokes

Sunstroke is caused by long time exposure of body to sunlight or to a high temperature zone where the natural resistance of body fails to resist the adverse impact of body against heat. If the problem of sunstroke is not intervened in proper time, it can pose serious threat on life, however, proper and timely treatment can cured an affected patient.

There are a few home remedies that should be followed at the earliest to comfort the patient of sunstroke before he or she is taken to emergency treatment center.

The affected person should be immediately removed from the heat or from sun exposed zone. If air conditioned atmosphere cannot be arranged, the patient should be moved under some shade.

The affected person’s clothing is required to be removed as much as possible keeping the point of social norms in mind. However, in the first occurrence, the socks, shoes, ties, shirts are to be removed, which can retain the heat inside body.

If the person affected is not senseless ask him to sip some normal water slowly. Chilled water and carbonated beverages are to be avoided in all extent.

After taking some rest the affected person should give liberal and unlimited cool shower unless he feels slightly cooled within inside, at least until the raised temperature of body is released. Then he should be allowed to take rest in some cool place.

When the initial crisis is over then you can apply some ice pack on the neck shoulder, body joints of the affected person in order to low down body temperature. If the air-conditioned atmosphere is not available, it is preferred to wrap a wet blanket around the body of the patient.

Due to sunstroke a loss of salt creates a misbalance in body. Slow consumption of electrolyte solution will help the patient to recover slowly. In the meantime you should arrange to move him to nearest health center for doctor’s supervision.
