Renal Diet

There is a prevailing misconception regarding kidney diet. Generally, people apply the whole concept of this diet to severe conditions and are quite critical about the same too. Patients undergoing dialysis or suffering from kidney failures are normally believed to be following this diet.

However, one can easily follow this variety of diet as a normal staple diet and can actually walk easily towards health. Any normal human being following this diet will not only be able to keep him or her healthy but will ensure healthy kidneys too.

The pair of kidneys in the human body helps to keep your systems clean and rinse the systems. Thus, when you begin to follow a diet, which helps keep the kidneys more active you are bound to welcome health and fitness. To boost up the kidneys one must include more of kidney friendly diet that includes more of protein intake.

The higher amount of meat, fish and poultry you consume in your diet the easier it is for you to regulate the kidneys and their functions. As a general health diet and renal diet, you can consume a good amount of protein.

However, when you are on the diet for a dialysis and have heavily malfunctioned kidneys, then you will have to regulate the protein intake and have to increase the same with time.Decreasing plant food and increasing animal food in your diet will help you keep the kidney healthy and active.

You must also regulate the potassium and salt intake in your diet as both can lead to a problem when consumed in a good amount and can lead to kidney problems. Fruit juices are good to begin the day and generally eat or drink juices of fruits like guava, grapes, strawberry etc.These fruits have cleansing properties and help you keep refreshed and active from the morning.

Consume very less amount of rice for lunch or dinner and completely ignore the same when you are suffering from severe kidney problems. However, you can easily substitute the same with an equal amount of vegetable stock or poultry products and can consume yogurt or milk as dessert. However, when you are diagnosed with higher phosphate level you need to replace milk or dairy products with soy milk or other milk substitutes.

Try to consume limited amount of fluids to stay healthy and thereby to maintain the kidney functions in a more profound way. Try to avoid breads and chapattis as much as possible, you can eat oats and sago as breakfast and can thereby boost up health and regulate the kidneys too.

A good cup of tea at least twice daily will help you feel active and will thereby help you keep energetic too. You can drink black coffee once in a while but, then also the consumption must be determined by the kidney you are in. severe kidney patients must avoid the consumption of the same. The renal diet in the beginning might seem too confusing but with time, you will be able to regulate the same and devise a plan completely suiting you and your lifestyle.
