Prevention From Shaving Discomfort
December 22, 2008
Shaving is like a nightmare for some men; some claim it irritating, some claim it as torturous. But they have to indulge this process in order to get refreshed and look neat and clean. Especially in winter it is really tough to go for shaving in the dry skin tone.
But anyhow the pain and torment with razor can be minimized if you follow some easy tips:
Shaving should be followed by a little preparation. Moist your facial skin with water from basin or simply wipe your mouth with a cotton towel. It is like a warm up process.
While shaving it is comfortable to use razor according to hair growth direction. In this way lower chin needs to be shaved upward and the upper facial part should be shaved in downward movement of razor.
Although some will find it awkward but the best place to shave is under the shower. The water flow from shower helps to keep skin soft and supple and it hardly pains.
If shaving with shower is not possible, then first apply water in your face then apply lather cream or foam.
Single blade disposable razors are the best options for safe shaving. Although contrary to commercial advertisement, double or triple razor blades harm the skin surface and spoil the smoothness of skin and it is not health safe to manage everyday shave by the double bladed razors.
Apply a good aftershave, if possible a herbal one containing Aloe Vera and natural antiseptic ingredients which will be effective enough to heal the cuts and wound caused by shaving process. It is better if you put some alum water in the face after shaving, it will work as antifungal, antiseptic, and antibacterial agent.
Preferably use electric shaver; it protects skin surface and does not harm skin tone as done by manual shaving process. If you are using a conventional razor, try the blade until it is sharp, otherwise it may scrap the skin surface causing pain and irritation.
Immediately after shaving, apply sunscreen while you are going out, it will obviously protect your shaved face from the irritation caused by sunrays.
