Pain During Sexual Intercourse [Dyspareunia]

Pain during sexual intercourse is a varied factor and the intensity and type strictly varies for one woman to other. As the whole episode is very much personal and the level of interaction varies from one person to other it cannot be logically defined every where. In crisp, this is basically a female problem and medically this female disorder in termed as dyspareunia.

While studying the patients of this disorder it is found that the women who are affected by this problem feel pain in labial, vaginal track, and in pelvic region.

Pain associated with intercourse is observed in three major stages with affected women: at the time of entry, during the process, and after the process is over.

The most common symptom of dyspareunia is pain at the time of entry on at the attempt of entry. Second most common is pain during the process, and generally this pain is felt in pelvic region.

The third category of pain is observed in discomfort of muscle cramps, muscle tightness, and in muscle cramping. Cramping is observed in legs, and in lower abdomen.

Pain of dyspareunia is described as mainly primary and secondary pain type. In primary pain type, the pain at the time of sexual intercourse remains for the whole span of her sexual life. The secondary pain type is the pain of sexual intercourse which is experienced after a certain time.

Complete pain of dyspareunia is the ever existing pain at the time of inter course irrespective the situation, relationship with the partner, and the partner himself. Contrary to this kind of pain is situational pain which occurred on certain situation, posture, or with some particular partner.

Superficial pain is seen at the time of attempt to penetration or immediately after the penetration. Deep thrust pain is felt in lower abdomen or in the cervix region; however, this type of pain is felt during and after the process of sexual intercourse.

If the pain affected woman feels intolerable pain, bleeding, discharge from her genital parts, she should contact a gynecologist immediately.
