Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disorder of bone; in fact while a person suffers from this problem he/he loses the normal density of bone. As the result of osteoporosis problem bones in body becomes fragile and weak and tends to be fracture prone. Bone becomes porous and more like a sponge and in later stage forms like brick thus the tendency to have fracture increases with this disease.
Normal bone is made of different ingredients like protein, collagen, and calcium which make bone strong and durable. Bones affected by osteoporosis becomes fracture prone even by minimum shock which can be of least effect in case of normal bones.
The fracture takes place in the form of crack [as it happens in case of hip fracture], or in the manner of collapsing as seen in a compression kind of fracture generally observed with the vertebrae.
The wrists, hips, and spine are common places where osteoporosis triggered fractures takes place in almost all osteoporosis affected skeletons thus the patient of osteoporosis suffers from fractures from these places.
Any precise symptom of osteoporosis can be in dormant condition for a long time because unless it is revealed by bone fracture it is not possible to find out the disorder of the bones.
That is hardly patients of this disease remain aware of their existing anomaly of bone. In some other cases the symptoms convey the disease through the location of the fracture and fracture types.
The fracture caused due to some activities, or as a result of fall off, generally results in hip fracture. These patients tend to develop hip fractures out of trivial events due to porosity and feebleness of bones and it is difficult to treat these type of fractures due to poor quality of bone condition.
The fracture which takes place in due course of normal activities is termed as stress fracture or trauma fracture. A patient of osteoporosis may suffer from a trauma fracture on normal moves where therein no chance of having a fracture for normal person with normal bone conditions.
