Nitty gritty of diabetic diet

Diabetic diet is one of the treatment processes of diabetes. This is the reason diabetic diet should be designed with three main objectives related to patient’s well being like maintenance of right level of sugar in blood, achieving/retaining ideal weight according to height and age of the patient, and putting restrictions of the foods which may induce heart related diseases.
Diabetic diet should have many intricate issues to deal with; that is why, it is better that the concerned doctor or a professional dietitian should design a diabetic diet. A diabetic diet is planned as per the physical condition and associated symptoms of an individual patient; however, there is no standard diet for diabetes.
There are certain guidelines for planning for a diabetic diet; the experts recommend that main portion of calorie for a diabetic patient should come from carbohydrates, 12-20% from protein source, and maximum 30% from fat source.
For example, meats and dairy products are main sources of fats therefore these foods should be avoided in diabetic diet plan. On the other hand, olive oil is a reliable source of monosaturated fats therefore it is a reliable and healthiest example of fat. Animal liver, egg yolks or organ meats are high cholesterol based foods; consumption of these foods should be decided on the meticulous recommendation of the dietitian according to patient’s health condition.
In other way, a diet which is comprised of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits which best fits the bill. Consistency is the main point here in the diet plan which can maintain a balance in health system which can prevent against unwanted rise in blood sugar. In case of diabetic diet, it is more than a restrictive diet; it is a healthy eating plan rich in desirable nutrients and low in calorie and harmful fatty acid count.
In diabetic diet plan, in general, fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and low-fat-dairy products are considered as healthy carbohydrate. Fiber–rich foods are good preventive for heart disease and are good antidote for maintaining blood sugar levels. Foods which are high in fiber include vegetables, fruits, wheat bran, nuts, and certain fruits in its list.
A diabetic patient should always avoid saturated and trans-fats based foods for the control of blood sugar level and to keep away associated diseases related to this disease.
