Natural Cures for Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are quite common and they are formed when the chemical contents in the urine like calcium, phosphorus, uric acid and oxalic acid are present in high amounts and are not adequately flushed out from the body.

These give rise to small, hard deposits in the form of stones in the kidney walls. These are caused due to a number of reasons like improper diet, heavy sweating, inadequate metabolism, excessive intake of tea and coffee, spicy foods, hereditary factors, sedentary lifestyle, eating of too much meat, sugar products and Vitamin D enriched food items.

The main symptoms of kidney stone include very little and painful urination, vomiting, pain in the groin and urine accompanied with blood to name some. However kidney stones can be treated effectively with some natural cures.

Juice has to be extracted from basil leaves and this has to be added with honey and consumed every morning in an empty stomach for few months to get useful results.

Kidney stone diet containing citric acid should be taken as it has the ability to melt any hard material including kidney stones. The best source of citric acid is lemon. Some lemon can be squeezed in a glass of water and this has to be drunk two to three times a day.

Some vegetables come as a good rescue in treating kidney stones. Radish juice can be drunk one to two times daily. Similarly tomato also contains citric acid and therefore fresh tomato juice mixed with little salt and pepper can be consumed first thing in the morning to get help with the stones.

Drinking plenty of water is the best remedy for flushing out the kidney stones. At least 8-10 glasses of water have to be consumed daily. Watermelon has a lot of water content and hence it is the ideal fruit for this problem. It acts as a natural diuretic and helps in easing the urination process.

Two to three figs can be boiled in water and this drink should be taken in the morning. The pods of kidney beans have to be cut and boiled in water. This potion has to be drunk several times a day.

Fruits like apple and grapes are very helpful.
Grapes contain very less amount of sodium chloride and albumin and therefore beneficial for the kidneys.
