Natural Cure For Constipation in Infants
April 23, 2009
When a child is in his babyhood constipation causes lot of unexplained but visible discomfort in the child, and it becomes tough sometimes to feed him/her due to incomplete or no- evacuation of colon. If this situation persists for longer time, it may create the problem of diarrhea at once which may disturb the fluid balance in a baby in major way.
Otherwise when the baby is shifted toward artificial baby milk the transition may cause the problem of constipation.
The babies who are on artificial milk fed and more than 2 months old, may be fed with 4 ounce boiled cool water in a regular interval for easy evacuation.
Depending on the prescription of pediatrician the constipated baby might be fed with diluted fruit juice; the juicy pulp of apple, grapes, pear, and cherry can be given to the baby in small amount for the intake of natural fiber which will normalize its bowel movement. However, the intake of natural fiber should start in its tiniest amount from 4 months onward.
Vegetable juice 1-2 ounce made with spinach, plums, pears, peas and beans can be given to the child optionally as per the prior permission of the doctor.
In some cases constipation in a baby is triggered by hypothyroidism or Hirschsprung’s disease, in these cases genetic history should be checked and accordingly doctor’s treatment will handle the problem.
In these cases constipation is the symptom of certain discrepancy in body and once the root problem is handles, the symptoms will be automatically subdued.
A constipated child must be given 2-3 teaspoon of triphala decoction regularly before bed time at night to cure the problem of constipation.
Lactulose is an efficient remedy for bowel movement, however, this artificial remedy, if necessary, should be administered under the professional guidance of a professional gastroenterologist.
In case of mall children, use of enema, laxative, and mineral oil needs to be avoided in its maximum extent. In lieu of these applications of artificial methods, water–based lubricant can be applied on the anus of the constipated child; it would help in easing the passage of stool naturally.
