Mononucleosis Symptoms and Easy Preventive Measures

Mononucleosis is an infectious disease and also is popularly known as kissing disease. It induces symptoms in its infected patients like swollen glands, sore throat, and fever. The infection may persist in a person even for a year, irrespective of the outburst of the symptoms.
There are some signs and symptoms of mononucleosis. Out of some general symptoms, fever, weakness, swollen tonsils, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in the neck region, and enlargement of spleen and liver are mostly observed in the patients. Sometimes the affected person suffers from body rash, terrible cluster headache, and recurring discomfort of nausea.
Generally, it takes time [4-7 weeks] in developing the symptoms of virus after the contamination. Although the symptoms get wiped off by 2-6 weeks, it may persist for a few days or as long as for quite a few months for some patients.
Unless the patient comes in close contact of another person [mainly this disease is spread by kissing] there is hardly any chance to get it circulated in other family members. However, this disease is not an air borne disease and never demands isolation for the patient.
There are different treatment options for this disease; however, prevention is always a better option than its cure process. Some of the easy preventive measures are described here. All these tips are based on nutrition and these points help in prevention as well as faster recovery of the affected patients.
Dietary restrictions like consumption of antioxidant–rich foods like [peppers, and green leafy vegetables], and fruits like cherries, tomatoes, and blueberries help in strengthening immunity system thus ensures prevention from Mononucleosis.
Avoidance of refined foods, for example, intake of sugar, pastas, and white breads ensures better prevention from this disease. Processed and junk foods need to be avoided.
Consumption of lean meats, tofu, fish of cold water, and beans for protein are helpful for tong immune system; at the same time it is better to avoid red meats. Cooking oil needs to be good quality and healthy for immunity system.
Adequate consumption of water will prove beneficial for the well-being of the patient and initiate faster recovery. Consumption of tea and coffee should be avoided as much as possible.
Incase of sore throat problem gargling with salt water helps the situation.
