Menstrual Cramp

Menstruation cramps in women are medically termed as Dysmenorrhea; this pain occurs in the lower abdomen and in the pelvic region in a woman in her menstruation period. The pain of menstruation cramp varies in its intensity from one woman to other, and depending on the severity of the pain, the pain may last from 2 hours to 48 hours. During this pain heaviness in lower abdomen is felt as well as some other ailments are found with this problem.
Depending on the intensity of the menstrual cramps mild and severe types of cramps are found in the pain experience of women. Mild menstrual cramp lasts for a few hours while the severe cramp lasts longer associated with cramps in hip joint and in the lower side of the back.
Although there is no fixed time for the duration of this cramping pain but in specific cases it has been observed that due to the intensified effect the normal activities of he affected ladies are greatly hampered.
Other common symptoms of the severe menstruation cramping are nausea, vomiting, abnormal lethargy, sweating, and in some cases loose motion problems occur with the menstruation cycle along with cramping.
Although the reason triggering the problem of menstruation cramping is still unknown but the researchers and scientists have concluded the hormone prostaglandins, which gets secreted during the period of menstruation, is mainly responsible for the occurrence of cramping.
Study has shown that young ladies feel more severity in menstruation cramps while the intensity of pain gets decreased with the ascending age and in many cases after having a baby [in post-pregnancy period] the intensity of pain gets significantly reduced.
Other factors which trigger the problem of menstruation cramping are smoking, stress, anxiety, stress and depression. This is the reason stress free life counts a lot on controlling ailments like menstruation cramping problem. When the trigger factors can be managed in some degrees, that means some minor modifications are imposed on life style, the possibility of Menstruation cramping gets lowered.
Some minor home remedies effects positively on menstruation cramping like freehand light exercise, application of hot pad in the lower abdomen or on pelvic region externally, and consumption of ginger tea helps to reduce the intensity of pain.
