Juvenile diabetes

Juvenile diabetes mellitus is commonly known as diabetes type-1. It is a disease which involves the anomaly of metabolism and high count of glucose in bloodstream due to inadequate secretion of insulin in pancreas.

Type-1 diabetes is called juvenile diabetes because the problem starts from childhood phase of the affected persons.

In general, after consumption of a meal, the food ingredients get broken in sugar particles and converted into glucose. The produced sugar in the form of glucose passes through blood stream into the body cells of different organs with the stimulation of one hormone called insulin which is produced by pancreas.

The children detected with juvenile diabetes are found as insulin dependent because they suffer from acute inadequacy of insulin; insulin is the hormone that converts the intake food into glucose which is essential to perform in normal course.

Modern research method has revealed that juvenile diabetes is an autoimmune disease which somehow similar to multiple sclerosis etc. A few of the victims may also get induced with thyroid anomaly.

General symptoms of juvenile diabetes includes excessive thirst, frequent urge of urination, irritating mood, frequent spell of nausea and vomiting, excessive hunger, unconditional weight loss, recurring fatigue and weakness, and the problem of blurred vision.

Children those have toilet training, while suffering from juvenile diabetes may suffer from the problem of bed wetting frequently.

Children suffering from juvenile diabetes are restless in nature, indifferent in nature, and cannot perform well in school.

Type-2 diabetes is seen mainly in adults although there are instances where youngsters are not spared. Obesity, family history are common triggers for diabetes type-2 ; those who lead sedentary life style  are at risk of having diabetes.

The symptoms of type-2 diabetes are same like type-1 diabetes but in case of type-2 the symptoms are more delicate. Additional symptoms are itchiness in skin, tingling or numbness in feet, slow healing wounds, frequent bladder infections, blurred vision, and unconditional fatigue.

In case of type-1 diabetes as pancreas does not produce insulin, external shots of insulin are injected in body. Insulin does not cure diabetes but maintains blood sugar level properly and helps functioning properly.

In case of type -2 diabetes, oral medicines, diet, and proper exercise are prerequisite to balance the symptoms.
