Insomnia causes

Insomnia is one of the most common forms of sleep disorder which involves the complication of falling asleep and staying asleep for its patients. People suffering from insomnia, in general, display certain symptoms like trouble in falling asleep, suffering from multiple interruptions during sleep at night, feeling lethargic on waking, and tendency to get at very early in the morning etc.

In most of the instances, insomnia stems from other problems. For instances if someone is suffering from acute alcoholism, it may interfere with the normal course of sleep. There are different causes for insomnia; the major causes are narrated here.

Stress is one of the most common reasons behind insomnia. Constant work pressure, insecurity in life, restlessness, tension in mutual relationships etc. issues create stress in life, and too much concerning about these nerve-wrecking problems lead toward insomnia.

Those who are suffering from anxiety disorder may suffer from insomnia as a related problem to this severe mental disorder.

One of the major symptoms for clinical depression is proneness for sleep or facing trouble in falling asleep. Perhaps the lack of relaxation induces this sleep disorder in body.

Some medicines can induce insomnia in the life of an individual as the adverse effect of their intakes. Antidepressants, hypertension medicines, certain pain medications, decongestants, caffeine containing weight–loss products may cause insomnia on the consumers the long-term use of these medicines.

Certain physical conditions like arthritis, cancer, diabetes, asthma, gastro esophageal reflux, hyperthyroid, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer Disease often disturb normal sleep pattern in the patients and induce the problem of insomnia. In case of any chronic disease doctor’s intervention is required to overcome the problem of insomnia.

Caffeine containing drinks and alcohol are popular stimulants. Consumption of tea, coffee or having smoking habit may hamper normal sleeping course and can induce insomnia for an individual. However, in case of alcohol despite of its apparent sedative effect, it causes major disturbance in sleep pattern and introduce insomnia in the normal sleep order of an alcoholic.

Apart from these issues aging, poor sleep habit, irregular sleeping schedule, over eating tendency, certain medications causes insomnia in certain cases.

Sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome also cause insomnia in the affected persons.
