Important Natural Treatments For Fleas

Fleas are 1/8th of an inch, but can create a whole lot of problem in a house. They affect both the human beings and animals. These creatures are known to jump to about 100 times than their own length. So if you have a place with a load of dirty stuff/things stacked up, or have a pet, or are planning to buy a pet very soon, you should know that the females can lay, a mind numbing, 300 trillion number of eggs in a year.

You get the point! Pesticides are commonly used as anti-flea elements, but these chemical killers also have the chance of infecting the human lot too, including children. So a large number of people are siding with the natural ways to clear the plate of fleas.

If you have a flea infestation and do not want pesticides, then feel free to try out the treatments.

Preventive Measures

Why let the fleas settle in what you own, in the first place? Right. So, be regular and ‘strict’ with the preventive measures. Some of them are given below.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming is the best way to keep the fleas away and their numbers, fading gradually. Vacuum regularly; especially the spots where your household people sleep, the area where your pet stays and plays, the insides of the bedding, and any place which is clogged with household furniture/items.

This helps in uprooting the eggs and larvae from their places; they do not get their first taste of blood, as a result, lesser fleas.

The treatments for the fleas or more like killing the fleas are given below.

Garlic Treatment

First vampires and now fleas! Bloodsuckers seem to have a problem with garlic. But jokes aside, garlic can land a serious blow in the population of the fleas. It is also one of the most readily available ‘flea killers’ in a house.

Mix a small portion of garlic with your pet’s food, and feed like this for 2 weeks.

Cedar Wood

When small blocks of cedar wood are placed, in and around the places, where the fleas might populate more often, and in large numbers, it serves to keep them away. Keeping them at the doors and windows helps too.

Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus oil has more than a handful of importance, in the life of a human. Fill a spray bottle with one part eucalyptus oil and the rest part water. Spray this solution over the spots where you think the fleas might rest (the bedding, blocked areas, carpets, etc).

Make it a routine to spray this solution at a regular interval and more frequently in summers. You should also spray some of this on your pet.

Lemon Treatment For Fleas

Take a medium-sized container of water, and in it put the slices of a lemon. Now boil the solution and let it steep overnight.

The next day, spray this solution on the places of the fleas’ frequent visit. Also, take care to spray over the less visible parts of your pet.

Neem Treatment For Fleas

This is one powerful herb. Bathe your pet with neem oil, and after that spray some lotion on, to get the flea dead and never to return. Within no time, you will see the fleas falling dead.
