Hypospadias is a Male Birth Defect

Hypospadias is a defect of male birth and it is observed in one person out of 100 men. In this health disorder, the urethra is not opened at the tip of the penis but on the upper part of penis. This problem although is not very common by its occurrence but genetic history is considered one of the main reasons for its recurrence in generation after generation. However, the occurrence of Hypospadias differs by its severity from one person to another.

As boys prefer to stand for urination, it requires better control on urinary system, on contrary due to hypospadias the control over urinary system becomes quite weakened and may cause social embarrassment in some specific situations.

This is the reason this problem needs to be solved in infant stage because children are more prone to faster healing process, the minor operation under general anesthesia is the only potion left to rectify this birth defect. Children are less susceptible of trauma because of their immaturity of brain and brain cells so it will be easier to remove the trauma out of the mind of the child going through the operation.

It remains easier for the parents to take care of the wound in the genital parts in the childhood only otherwise there remains a chance for improper handling of wound.

There is disorder called chordee where the penis remains bended in the time of erection and it may cause some problems in the affected patient. The problem of chordee is also rectified at the time of removal of the problem of Hypospadias the problem of chordee is also rectified if noticed. Chordee is seen in infant and adults only in men.

The recovery time of this operation differs from one patient to another and it depends on the complexity of the surgery done on the affect a person to rectify his defect.

Post operative precaution is very much important in his cases because if the genital parts are not cleared properly, it may cause infection in the wound. Any abnormality or swelling in the operated wound should require immediate call for doctor. Sometimes to avert the possibility of infection antibiotics are started in immediate post operative period.
