The most popular and simplest process of birth mark removal is application of medication. Nowadays, there are multiple types of medications available which can lighten the coarseness of the targeted birthmark. Corticosteroids types of medicines are prescribed as a removal solution for birthmark. This type of medicine is applied in the form of injection pressed on the spot, or it can be taken by the patient orally. Except slight weight induction complication there are no other side effects of corticosteroids medicine. Within 2-4 weeks of the application of the medicine the firmness of skin comes into effect.
There are many instances where corticosteroids medicines do not produce satisfactory result; in these cases some stronger pills are recommended for use. However, it may not be comfortable to use all these pills as these pills may initiate some adverse side effects on the consumers.
Laser therapy is another popular process often used for permanent removal of birthmarks. This is a comparatively costly procedure and is mainly recommended for those who want quick results without pain or many adverse side effects to tolerate.
If none of these methods can produce good result in removal of birth marks, then surgery is the only option left for this problem of birth mark removal. The birth marks which are obstruction for normal activities are mainly removed by surgical process. But possibility of getting a scar in lieu of the birth mark is the possible side effect of surgical process.
Presently, two more processes have emerged for removal of birthmarks, one is cryosurgery and the other one is electrodesiccation. In electrodesiccation process needles are used to treat the affected area. In case of cryosurgery the birthmark are treated with spraying a freezing agent on it; as the skin tends to get normal, gradually the scar tends to be disappeared.
