Pedicure is pampering for toe- nails and feet and like salon it can be done at home by self care practice. Needless to mention that it is a cost efficient method of foot care and requires around 30 minutes time to complete the whole session.Necessary items

A few items are required to do pedicure at home. These items are cotton pads, nail polish removers, cuticle and nail nippers, cuticle pusher, exfoliating scrub and pumice stone, moisturizer, and nail polish according to the discretion.

A few tips to remember

Cotton pads are better option that cotton balls in case of pedicure because cotton pads can remove stubborn nail polish stain with better efficiency than cotton balls.

Filing on nails should be done in uniform manner; other wise there is high chance that the nails would be damages.

The process

The old nail polish stain has to be removed with the gentle application of nail polish remover and it is always recommended to use acetone free remover.

Next to cleansing of nail, it is time to soak feet into lukewarm foot-soak in order to soften the dead cell layers.

Foot files are available in market with non-metallic scrubber, it is wise to use good quality foot scrub and foot file together for maximum exfoliation of the dead cell layers from foot-edges especially from ankles.

It is always recommended to rinse away the slough-off skin particles after exfoliation is done.

After completion of the treatment of foot skin, a complete wash for the feet is recommended with lukewarm water. Then before starting the next procedure, entire feet should be patted dry by a soft and clean towel.

It looks good to see toe-nails in decent shape and size. Nail clippers and file keep the nails in shape and the gentle use of cuticle clippers take care for the over grown cuticles back in their own positions.

Trimming excess skin from the nails is an intricate job but it is easier to manage it with the gentle use of nail nipper. Because of the sharp edge of this tool it should be used carefully and softly so that it should not hurt.

The last step of pedicure at home is an application of good foot cream or moisturizer with soft and circular stroke on feet. Before application of nail polish, it is necessary to wipe off moisturizer coat from the nails. For best color effect double coat nail polish is to be used.
