Herbal Remedies of Cardamom
There are many herbs, spices and condiments across the globe that possess certain medicinal properties, and greatly affect human health. These herbs, spices and condiments can also be called as Natural Healers. Cardamom is one such excellent natural healer.
Cardamom comes in two forms- small and large. It also has excellent food value. It is low in fat and is a major source of proteins and Vitamins A, B and C. Cardamom is very well known for its sweet and enigmatic aroma. I never forget to move out of the house without carrying 3-4 pieces of cardamom in my pocket. It comes in very handy.
First and the most common use of cardamom is that it is an excellent mouth freshener. Whenever you have a bad breath issue, just pop-in a small cardamom into your mouth and chew its seeds completely. The foul smell will be gone in just a minute.
Cardamom is majorly used to strengthen the stomach, and hence is very helpful in curing various digestive disorders. It increases the appetite, and helps in relieving gas from the body.
It is helpful in case of nausea, heartburn and vomiting too. For stomach problems, mix half-a teaspoon of cardamom powder in hot water and drink three times a day.
Cardamom is useful for people suffering with depression also. It acts as a mood elevator. For curing depression, boil some cardamom powder in water and before drinking add honey to it. The pleasant aroma of the drink would surely lift your mood and take you out of depression. You can add cardamom seeds to your food also.
Hiccups can also be stopped by consuming cardamom. Boil some water; add powdered cardamom and few mint leaves to it. Drink this preparation to stop hiccups.
Cardamom is beneficial in the treatment of sore-throat, influenza, headache and kidney stones. For kidney and bladder stones, consume cardamom and cucumber seeds together.
Other than various medicinal uses, cardamom can also be used to flavor different dishes, cakes, breads, etc. The essential oil obtained from cardamom is used to create medicines, perfumes, various liquors and is also used as a stimulant.
