Sandalwood is an evergreen medium sized tree and its wood is famous for its own aroma. It is also known as Chandan in India. The tree of sandalwood contains an essential oil which is an excellent natural cooling agent. The wood of this tree taste bitter, sedative in nature and a good specimen of natural cardiac tonic.

The oil of sandalwood is a natural antiseptic agent as well a good quality of stimulant of nerves. Application of sandalwood oil 3-4 drops with carrier oil can be applied on skin irruption, dry patches, and on itchy rashes; it works a within instant soothing effect. In fact, sandalwood oil has skin soothing effect as well as a soothing effect on mucous membranes.

If a sandal wood is rubbed on a stone or slab made of sandstone, it will produce a white semi solid ingredient scented with essential oil; this paste of sandalwood works well as a natural antidote for prickly heat in summer. The application of sandalwood prevents excessive sweating as well as cures the discomfort of sunburn skin surface.

Sandalwood paste or dry sandalwood powder needs to be mixed on the sweat prone places to prevent the proneness of sweating.

Sandalwood powder needs to be mixed into milk and then consumption of this milk helps curing gonorrhea.

The powder of sandalwood mixed with cold decoction of ajwain helps curing bladder infection and aids in reducing trouble of painful urination. The decoction needs to taken 5-10 drops in the beginning at 20-30 drops in the later stage.

Sandalwood is an effective solution for gastric irritation; the remedial medicine needs to be prepared by mixing honey, sugar, rice water, and watery emulsion of sandalwood. This herbal combination needs to be consumed around 22-25 grams once per day. Regular intake of this herbal combination helps curing chronic dysentery.

Smearing sandalwood paste on the aching forehead relieves headache as well as works well as a reducing agent for mild to medium fever.

The oil of sandalwood helpful for treatment of scabies; when  sandal wood oil  3-4 drops are mixed with mustard oil works as an efficient remedy for acne problem.

In summer time regular application of sandalwood oil helps retaining cooling freshness all day long, it is good remedy for summer skin care.
