Handy Tips to Treat Razor Bumps

Razor bumps are also called pseudofolliculitis barbae; these are small, irritating bumps on the skin surface due to chafing of razors. These bumps are developed after shaving. Razor bumps cause irritation and initiate problem of pimple and scars on skin surface.

These bumps cause are formed in red and mild rash shape; itchiness, burning sensation and tingling pain are the main discomforts of the razor bumps. A few home remedies can prevent the problem of razor burn as well as may treat the problem of razor burn effectively.

One of the most efficient home remedies cum precaution of razor burn is application of apple cider vinegar on the shaved area after shaving.  Apple cider vinegar should be made diluted with water [1:1 in proportion] before application.

Fresh extract of potato is an excellent instant cure remedy for razor burn. You have to cut a potato into thin slices before the slices are applied on the shaved area of body.

Regular application of aloe Vera oil on the razor bumps helps in reducing the burning discomfort of the issue; however, it is always recommended to smear the oil with a cotton ball.

Petroleum jelly is one of the best and efficient natural cure remedies for razor bump; it is always suggested to apply petroleum jelly on the razor bumps two times per day to get rid off discomfort and pain of razor bumps.

Take one teaspoonful sour cream and add pulp of two strawberries to form a smooth paste. The paste is advised to be smeared on the razor bumps and retain the same for 10-15 minutes followed by thorough wash by lukewarm water. If you are suffering from razor balm problem, you should repeat this process two times a week; for prevention of razor bump formation, this herbal paste is to be used once in a week.

You need to mix handful dried comfrey leaves and dry calendula flowers into ½ cup witch hazel extract; let the infusion sit for 15-20 days. Whenever there would be a razor bump, you should apply the lotion on it for prompt cure. However, the shelf life of this herbal lotion is around six month only.

Make an herbal combination of ¼ cup strained witch hazel, ½ cup rose water, ½ table spoon vegetable glycerin, and 5 drops each of lavender and sandalwood oil. Keep the lotion in an airtight bottle and in case of razor bump apply the herbal infusion on the bump for prompt relief.
