General Causes and Symptoms for Gingivitis
Gingivitis is an oral disease which results in inflammation of gums. It is also known as bleeding gums because most often this disease is caused due to poor oral hygiene and initiates bleeding at every occurrence. That is why, at the first stage of gum bleeding, it is wise to visit doctor’s chamber to ensure protection for teeth.

Poor dental hygiene is the main devil for induction of this disease. However, apart from this major problem, ill-fitted dental appliances, wrong dietary habits, poor alignment of teeth, drug reaction, vitamin deficiencies play a major role in creating this problem gum disease.
Sometimes due to poor oral hygiene habits, the teeth roots and gums suffer from volume of plaque deposits; blood disorders also play a significant role in causing bleeding gums.
Apart from oral hygiene issue, the habit of smoking, hormonal discrepancies due to puberty, pregnancy or due to menopause play a major role in tooth decaying. Gingivitis is often caused by malnutrition, fungal and viral infection, long term use of contraceptive pills, certain effect of medication, and induction of disease like diabetes, HIV, and carcinogenic disease etc. in human body.
There are a few general symptoms for gingivitis, although the symptoms vary in intensity from one patient to another, but problem with tender and swollen gums, bleeding at the time of tooth brushing, gum redness, visible tarter deposits are general symptoms of this oral disease.
In the advanced stage of gingivitis, bad breath problem, metallic taste in mouth, gum ulcer, and loss of normal color of gums reveal about the existence of gingivitis.
Gum ulcers are found frequently inside mouth and a patient of gingivitis often feels pain in gums. However, in later stage, gingivitis induces frequent bleeding from teeth and frequent problem of gum ulcer on the mouth of the affected patients. However, if treated properly, gingivitis gets cured completely.
