Gallbladder Disorders and Herbal Treatments
Gallbladder is an important part of our body. Though it is not a very large organ, it performs crucial function of storing bile that is manufactured by the liver. When a person eats food, gallbladder secretes bile into the small intestine that aid in proper digestion of food. Gallbladder disorder can lead to many types of digestive problems, which can cause many other disorders further.
Thus, proper functioning of gallbladder is very necessary. Due to disorder of gallbladder, a person may feel pain in stomach, which can become severe in certain cases. Similarly, its disorder can also lead to bloating or swelling due to excessive gas in the intestinal region. Gallstones also occur in this organ that prevents it to function properly and as a result, many other disorders appear.
There are many types of herbs that have been found useful in not only preventing the disorders associated with gallbladder but also in helping this organ to function properly. Some herbs like dandelion are being used for decades for the treatment of gallbladder disorders.
There are also some medicinal preparations available in the market, which contains herbs like nettle, which are effective in treatment. Similarly, combination of turmeric and peppermint is effective for the treatment of gallbladder disorders.
These herbs are very useful in dissolving and removing gallstones from the body. Peppermint can be consumed in the form of oil capsules that are readily available in the market. One or two capsules in a day can be had with each meal, if a person has gallstones.
It is always said that prevention is better than cure. Thus, a person should try to prevent gallstone formation in the first place. There are some herbs that have preventive effects and do not allow any type of gallbladder disorder.
For example, milk thistle, Oregon grape root and fringe tree bark are some of them. Gallstones mostly occur when bile secreted by the liver becomes saturated.
These herbs reduce the saturation of bile in gallbladder and thus, stones are not formed. If a person is suffering from painful spasms or inflammation of gallbladder, he can take some chamomile. This herb is found effective against spasms.
A perfect herbal formula for gallbladder care can be made by taking Oregon grape root, chamomile flowers, nettle roots, dandelion roots, and marshmallow roots. These can be simmered in a cup of water for 5-8 minutes and then cooled. A person can consume one cup of this preparation daily for preventing disorders.
