Foods to be avoided by high cholesterol patients
Those who have high cholesterol level in blood should be double conscious of diet. The diet chart of a high cholesterol patient should contain not only cholesterol lowering foods, but also those foods which may not be accounted as high trigger of cholesterol level in blood but these foods can add up count for LDL cholesterol at least more than high cholesterol foods in some instances.
In general, cholesterol comes from animal sources; the foods which are not generated through animal sources generally are not crowded by harmful cholesterol counts. For example, eggs and animal liver are the specimens of high cholesterol foods. There are some other high cholesterol foods which should be avoided by the cholesterol patients like butter, ice cream, cream, cream cheese, whole-milk dairy products, shellfish foods like crab, shrimp, etc, organ meets like liver, kidney, and brain, the meats of duck and goose [ skins of these birds contain high count of cholesterol]etc.
For high cholesterol patients avoidance of these foods ensures better prevention for the natural treatment for high cholesterol problem.
Those who have high cholesterol level in blood often makes their case worse by consumption of foods containing saturated fats and trans fatĀ because these unsafe and bad quality fats raise cholesterol level in blood which proves harmful for general health of heart. It is medically recommended that people with high count of cholesterol level in blood should consume saturated fat based food in restricted quantity.
Some of the common saturated fat based foods are veal, beef, poultry, egg yolks, processed meats [salami, hot dogs, sausages etc.], butter, milk, cream, ice cream, cheese etc. and baked goods etc.
There are some plant based foods like coconut oil, palm oil, and palm kernel oil etc. which may not be taken into high cholesterol food category but these foods have active role in raising cholesterol level in blood. Therefore for the sake of control on cholesterol level in blood, these foods are to be strictly avoided.
The foods high in trans-fat should be strictly avoided in order to take a control on cholesterol count in blood. To name a few foods high in trans- fat are deep fried foods like French fry and doughnuts, processed foods, snack foods, margarines, and baked foods etc. should be marked prohibited for the cholesterol patients for the sake of good health and healthy heart.
