Food Allergy

Food allergy is food sensitivity of a person. Certain foods acts as allergen, and when even tiny amount allergens are consumed, it results in skin rash, nausea, vomiting, cramping, and diarrhea kind of ailments. In case of food allergy someone’s body reacts against something harmless ingredients and that is why this kind of allergic reaction is also termed as hypersensitivity reaction. Food allergy may become fetal in case it creates severe allergic reaction. This kind of fatal shock is named as anaphylaxis.

When the body’s immunity system reacts adversely or overreacts to an allergen, it created food allergy. The white blood cells procure an antibody to this allergen, it is called immunoglobulin E.

When this particular antibody come in close contact to the allergen or with the particular food protein [the allergy trigger] a particular kind of chemicals is released is termed as mediator. One of the known mediators of this kind is Histamine.

In case of allergy these mediators act on different components of body such as airways, throat, skin, heart, and in intestinal track. The special effects of the mediators on the body parts and other cells create the visible symptoms of allergy.

Although there is no special category of foods as allergy prone foods, but certain foods are more vulnerable in creating allergic reactions. These foods are considered as allergy sensitive foods.

Extensive research and study reveals that almost all kinds of food allergies are triggered by one or more than one of these foods: Eggs, wheat, milk, soy products, peanuts, fish, tree nuts, and shellfish.

People who have history of chronic diseases like asthma, eczema, atopic dermatitis etc. which is allergic in nature are prone to have frequent allergic irruptions as well as more vulnerability to allergy. In these cases allergic reactions are also severe in nature.

Those who have allergy in peanuts will have cross allergies to peas, green beans, and soybeans; allergy to wheat are vulnerable to rye; allergy to cow’s milk are allergic to goat’s milk; allergic to pollen will surely have sensitivity of pollen will be sensitive toward hazelnuts, almonds, peaches, and green apples.
