Folic Acid also helps a person in fighting depression. It has been categorized under Vitamin B category. Deficiency in folic acid can lead to depression. Making up for its deficiency is very easy. There are many types of vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables, and fruits that contain folic acid. Similarly, fortified grains are another source of folic acid.
S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine can also fight depression in an herbal way. This chemical is present in our bodies and maintains levels of dopamine, neurotransmitters etc. This dietary supplement is bit expensive but is easily available at drug and health stores.
Similarly, 5-Hydroxytryptophan, which is also called as 5-HTP, is also helpful in depressed stages. This chemical is formed naturally in our bodies and increases the levels of neurotransmitters, which lower depression. It is also available at food and drug stores. However, its intake should not be combined with any other anti-depressant.
