Dental brushing is one of the integral defense processes of oral hygiene. Although from our early childhood we are habituated in using tooth brush but hardly a few of us are aware of the right techniques of tooth brushing. The basic guidelines of tooth brushing are described here with outline briefing.
The main motive behind regular brushing is removing the plaque from the teeth surface and to keep teeth clean. However, the right brushing technique varies from a child to the requirement of an adult person; a dentist only can suggest his patients about the best brushing technique after checking the individual teeth condition.
Brushing for teeth are required for two times a day to keep the teeth free from plaque formation and it can be used, ideally, maximum up to three times per day. Less than two times brushing may cause formation of plaque on tooth surface, similarly brushing more than three times may cause exerting extra pressure on gums resulting is damaged gums.
Tooth brushing should be done gently and with mild pressure on gums and teeth with soft bristled brush. Ideally the tooth brush should be held like a pen because this holding style encourages delivering lighter but firmer stroke on gum and teeth. However, brushing should be done minutely at least for 2 minutes to ensure total cleansing of the teeth surfaces.
Once the toothbrush and its bristles are perished, the toothbrush should be changed immediately. Brushing with splayed bristles is not only fruitless cleansing effort it tends to damage tender tissue of gums. However in each 2-3 months gap you should change your brush, before that if you ever feel uneasiness with the bristles, you should change your brush immediately. It is always wise to use a toothbrush recommended by FDA.
It is wise to maintain a scheduled routine for tooth brushing and it is better to maintain the schedule everyday for timely removal of the plaque from the teeth surface.
About the best toothpaste you should consult and act according to the suggestion of your doctor. The golden rule of choosing toothpaste is that it is individualistic and it might not be the same what your partner or friend is using or what the toothpaste is giving you the best result might not provide the same benefit for your friend.
