Ear infection symptoms

Middle ear infection is popularly known as ear infection. The middle ear is like an air-filled small compartment, located behind eardrum. We get ear infection when microbes get to enter into this portion and the compartment gets filled up with pus containing the dead bodies of germ fighting cells of body. With the formation of pus inside the pocket-like middle ear portion starts feeling like air-filled sack ready to crack. This causes pain in middle ear.
The germs from nose and throat get into ear and initiate the infection in middle ear.
An individual may develop the complications and symptoms of ear infection after 2-7 days of a cold attack or after an incident of infection in upper respiratory tract.
Ear infection is a painful disorder. If it diagnosed at the initial stage it is possible to get prompt recovery from the problem. Therefore, it is important to recognize the general symptoms for ear infection. Especially, in case of small children it is important to know the symptoms of ear infection; it will help prompt reporting the doctor to arrest the problem with quick effect.
The main symptom for ear infection is ear ache. Depending on the intensity of attack, it can be mild, moderate, or severe type.
Ear ache is nagging type and can induce irritation and short temper in the victims. Sometimes it creates such extent sharp pain that it becomes difficult to fall asleep. Some times the suffering patient may suffer from mild to moderate fever.
The patients who suffer from ear infection may suffer from blocked ear symptoms; mainly children suffer from this discomfort.
In some case, ear infection may initiate ear discharge form ear. It is wise to report the symptoms to doctor immediately for further advice and suggestion for medication. The patient may feel an urge to pull the ear as if something has managed to enter the interior of ear canal.
Loss of general appetite and grumpy attitude is another side symptom of ear infection.
In children treatment of ear infection is basically symptom based because hardly children can express their discomforts. Therefore, it is important to understand the general symptoms of infant ear infection.
While a baby suffers from ear infection, he may show unusual cranky behavior, difficulty in normal sleep, mild to moderate fever, discharge from ear, lack of balance in movement, hearing difficulty, non-responsiveness to sound and other activities etc.
