Dry Skin Care Using Essential Oil and Herbal Remedies

April 10, 2009

Dry skin needs special care because these sin types are much prone to wrinkle development and pre- aging fine lines. Adequate hydration is the main reason behind this problem and if not backed by proper care, these skin types suffer from larger pores, sagging skin, and  display of fine lines. Dry skintones are seen due to different reasons like genetics, diet, pollution, overuse of cosmetics or chemical based soaps, and in some cases nutritional deficiencies.

However apart for proper diet, the proper use of aromatherapy and easy herbal remedies can solve the problem of dry skin. Use of herbal remedies and essential oils should be at per the guidelines of a beauty therapist, however, these remedies are simple and can be tried at home by own.

You can make a face mask by mixing 6-7 ounce of unflavored yoghurt, some finely crushed almonds, two teaspoonfuls honey, and 3-4 drops of wheat germ oil. You need to massage this paste in small circular motion on your face and then you should wash off your face with cold running water. This face musk needs to be used at least two times per week on face and neck line for optimum effect.

If your hands are dry and rough in tone, smear liberally a herbal combination of sandalwood, chamomile, or hazelnut, evening primrose, or avocado oil which will tend to maintain the hydration level of the hands; regular use of this herbal oils together will restore softness in the dries hands gradually.

There are many hand and body lotion available over the counters; regular use of the lotions may help you to remove the dryness of your hand. However you can make your own recipe by mixing wheat germ oil and your favorite aroma of essential oil for regular massage of the tired skin of your hand. With a few days the herbal recipes will replenish your hands with natural softness.

A morning cleanser on herbal base can be made by mixing one egg yolk, one teaspoon olive oil, and one teaspoon orange juice, 2-3 drops of rosewater, and ½ teaspoon lime juice which need to be applied on face and neck line for natural glow and radiance on your skin tone.

[Lavender, geranium, chamomile, hyssop, patchouli, rose -oil, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang are the most beneficial essential oil for nourishment of dry skin]
