Digestion Problems? Get Natural Solutions

Digestion is a chemical and mechanical process of breaking down of macro food molecules into usable smaller components, so that it can be absorbed into the blood stream. As we chew our food, a chemical process begins with saliva from salivary glands that moisten the food and helps it to travel down the tube called esophagus to the stomach.

The digestive juices (Enzymes and acid) present in the stomach kills contaminated microorganism and starts chemical alteration of some food and mechanical breakdown of others. After one or two hours, it enters the small intestine.

As the liquid food paste reaches small intestine, all the nutrients like vitamin, mineral, carbohydrates, protein and fats are absorbed into bloodstream and reaches all our body cells to keep us growing healthy.

Causes that lead to poor digestion

Digestion process gets disturbed when we consume heavy and oily meal in large quantities, eat stale or contaminated food item or eat in a hurry without chewing properly.  There are some other causes that lead to digestion problems like eating frequently and that too without hunger, excessive mental stress, in active life style.

These unusual habits can cause digestive disorders like heart burn or abdominal pain due to acid reflux, feeling of nausea, sleeplessness, and loss of appetite etc.

To improve digestion and avoid indigestion, take small frequent meals instead of large meals. Chew food properly and enjoy eating. Increase the intake of water; at least 8-10 glass per day. Drinking lemon juice in a glass of water, or apple cider vinegar before meal can prevent indigestion. Drink water every hour with few drops of mint essence helps to improve digestion. Ginger tea also promotes digestion, if regularly taken after meal.

If you are still suffering from indigestion problem, make herbal tea, using blackberry, mint, raspberry which will promote digestion. Taking honey and lemon juice with lukewarm water early morning can effectively improve digestion. Eating orange not only gives nutrition but relaxes digestive organs as well.  If you are prone to heartburn, take peppermint tea.
