Diets That Increase Sperm Count
Problem in getting pregnant can occur due to many reasons and low sperm count of partner is one of them. Sperm count means number of sperms that are contained in the ejaculate. There are thousands of people that are suffering from low sperm count and are finding it difficult to extend their progeny. In a study, it was found that in about 30% cases, women do not become pregnant due to lower sperm counts. There are some food diets that not only increases the sperm counts but also increase the motility and production of sperms in males.
Dark green leafy vegetables occupy important position among diets that result in increase in sperm counts. A man should eat lot of green vegetables and fruits that contain folic acid. If needed, a supplement of folic acid can also be brought from the market. Chromosomal abnormalities are also removed due to these vegetables.
Carrots, apricots and red peppers are also found very effective in increasing the sperm count in males. Vitamin A is considered as necessary for production of healthy sperms and these substances contain ample vitamin A.
Oatmeal is also a good source of vitamin A. Men deficient in vitamin A are found to have low sperm counts. Some other food items that help in increase in sperm count are sweet potatoes, green lettuce and spinach.
Strawberries and cooked tomatoes are equally good for increasing the sperm count. Similarly, snow peas and asparagus have similar effects. All these food items are good in vitamin C and lead to increased sperm count in males. Motility is also improved by consumption of these food items.
Sardines and Salmons also increase sperm count in males. This increase sexual activity occurs due to presence of essential omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These substances improve the blood flow to testis and other reproductive parts that lead to increased sperm count.
Some other non-vegetarian food items that are rich in these fatty acids are sardines, crabs, chicken etc. Among herbs, flax is a good option for fatty acids.
Pumpkin seeds are also found very effective in increasing the sperm counts in males. These contain zinc in good quantities, which is considered as very important for maintaining sufficient testosterone levels in the body. Males that are deficient in zinc have very low sperm counts. Corn and yogurt also contain zinc in good quantities and thus, can be consumed for increasing the sperm counts in the body.
