Common Causes of Snoring

Snoring is a nasal sound which occurs at the time of sleeping; mostly adults and senior citizens are sufferer of this embarrassing disorder, however, some youngsters are also victim of snoring issue.Generally people who snore have more nasal and throat tissues or thin tissues which are vibration prone; sometimes tongue creates obstruction for smooth breathing.
However, the type of snoring can help in detecting the reason for snoring and it depends on the root-cause whether the problem can be controlled or not.
When a person snores, if the mouth remains closed then possibly the position of tongue is the reason for snoring.
If a person snores with open mouth, it is the throat tissues of the person are responsible for snoring.
If a person snores predominantly when he is lying on his back, it signifies the necessity in lifestyle change and sleeping habits.
If a person snores during sleep, irrespective of his/her lying position, he may require comprehensive treatment remedies to cure the problem permanently.
There are different reasons for snoring and these reasons may be segregated in two categories like causes out of control and causes within control.
The reasons which are not within control are heredity, the age problem, being male, sinus, allergy, asthma, or cold infection, etc.
Problems like enlarged adenoid narrow throat, cleft palate, and other similar physical discrepancies create problem of snoring. Ailments like asthma, allergy, cold infection, sinusitis imposes problem like certain vacuum in throat and initiates problem of snoring.
The reasons for snoring within control include obesity, prior smoking history, long-term medications, alcoholism, and faulty sleeping postures kind of lifestyle issues modification of which helps in tackling the problem of snoring effectively and efficiently.
The size of the pillow is one of the factors that could initiate the problem of snoring. In case the pillow is of larger size, it may create obstruction in air passage because it increases the neck angle. In this situation, change of posture of sleeping or change of pillow in smaller size may impact in arresting the problem.
Some specific diets, like milk and milk products, cause the blockage in air passage due to production of excessive mucus elements, which impacts in snoring.


With appropriate treatment, snorers can leave the spare room and be welcomed back into the bedroom. Snorers who aren’t afflicted with apnea may try various self-help approaches first.
I’ve also heard that insulin resistance can cause snoring. If you have the problem, you may want to check and make sure you don’t have blood sugar issues, or metabolic syndrome.
