Cluster Headache

Cluster headache is basically different than migraines, which is also known as tension headache. As the name signifies, the problem of cluster headache is a cluster of pain attacks in different courses over a particular phase or period on head, neck, and forehead region.

According to the occurring type, cluster headache is of two types, episodic headache and chronic headache. Episodic headache occurs within a certain period of time and gets off for quite a long time with no further recurrence. Then it again recurs and stays for a certain time frame.

Whereas the chronic type of headache prevails with no interval at all, and the chronic pain sufferers experience unpredictable occurrence of headache any time.

Whether in case of migraines there is a starting symptom of occurrence of pain, in case of cluster headache the starting phase remains unpredictable and uneventfully without any proper symptoms. After the starting of the headache it takes a few minute to reach it in its peak.

Normally people feel pain in one side of head and in the next attack faces pain on the other side of the head.

The occurrence of headache starts immediately as a person goes for sleep.
Cluster headache affects one side and makes the eyelids to sag.

The eye on the affected side may tear, it causes blood shot eyes in some occurrences.

Along with headache, the affected person may feel chocking on one side of nose as well as the irritation of runny nose.

Cluster headache occurs is some typical times like in January and in July, when the days remain shortest and longest by duration.

Ideally, you need to seek under the constant supervision of your family physician or for your personal neurologist to fight the problem of cluster headache because you don’t know when and how this problem strikes back.

However, you need to be alarmed when you feel your medicine is not working adequately, you feel vomiting, nausea, sedation without any medication and in case you feel there is an abrupt change in the intensity and type of the pain you are experiencing in compare to the previous experience of cluster headache.
