Chronic Female Pelvic Pain
Pelvic pain in a woman occurs in the pelvic region need less to mention the fact. If the pain persists for more than six months it is termed as chronic pain. In some cases the pain remains sudden type [coming and going in occurrence] and in these cases the intensity of pain is observed to be lower in degree. However, with some women the pain comes in severe degree makes their normal life interrupted acutely causing serious concern for medical investigation.
Although pelvic pain varies from one woman to another, as already mentioned, there are some general symptoms for pelvic pain.
It includes a feeling of poignant pain mild to sever in variable degrees, sever cramping tendency during menstrual period, feeling of pain during sexual intercourse, and feeling of sharp pain at the time of passing urine or at the time of passing bowel.
Although the reason for pelvic pain differs acutely from one affected patient to another, some common reasons have been accounted for occurrence of this kind of pain.
The major reasons include the existence of scar tissue, medically termed as adhesion, in the pelvic region due to surgery or due to certain pelvic infection.
The problem of pelvic pain can be occurred in a woman if she has a suffering history of urinary track infection or of any bladder infection problem.
Problems of reproductive system like endometriosis, uterine fibroid, or in case of adenomyosis, the problem of pelvic pain is observed in the affected women.
It has been observed by random survey, in some specific cases, the pelvic pain suffered women may have a prior history of sexual abuse; although any medical connection between these two events cannot be established as yet.
A series of diagnostic tests may be required to investigate the root cause of pelvic pain although there are many examples where in spite of all testing, no major reason or disorder is found which can trigger logically the pelvic pain.
In these cases instead of treating the reason, as the reason remains unknown, the treatment is done to reduce the occurrence and intensity of the pelvic pain.
