Childhood Obesity and Its Prevention

Childhood obesity is a gruesome medical issue that affects children initially, and in later age it affects youngsters. When a child’s body weight is not proportionate to his height and age, he is called obese. Initially though the problem of obesity induces the problem of fatty body only, in later stage, it may induce the problem of high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and the problem of hypertension.

There are different processes to control childhood obesity; natural treatment process is the best way to take care of this problem. Modification in regular diet and proportionate exercise plan are the two best processes, which can help to control the problem of obesity.

Other supportive processes, which can help in improving the situation, are discussed here. However, all these procedures can be followed even in the situations where there is hardly any problem of obesity in the family as a matter of healthy prevention from this killing giant.

It is proper to introduce a simple diet plan in family and this diet plan should be followed by every members. Gradually the children will also be habituated in the healthy food plan and be able to develop a good food habit for rest of his life.

Over weight issue is not built in one night so its counter habit will not be developed overnight either. However, patience is the best way to deal with this issue. Determination with strong perseverance level is the right path to control obesity from its basic root.

It is wisely recommended that once in a year doctor’s visit in well child scheme account is beneficial for the assessment and awareness about obesity and other related health issues for the concerned children as well as for the guardians. Regular check up of BMI can track the evasive symptoms of obesity in advance.

Children should not be permitted to play online games, or to chat on computer, or to watch television for a period of time because these sedentary habits initiate the tendency of bulge eating as well as hampers normal BMR of a child. Instead of television watching or computer game playing, children should be encouraged to participate in outdoor games, different healthy physical exercise programs, and sports activities to keep obesity away.

Sometimes we tend to reward a child with unhealthy foods for the sake of his/her momentary pleasure. But it is not recommended. Foods which are bad in effect should be tagged as bad foods and in no way should be offered by the guardians or relatives so that food habit wise the child should not be in confusion about the idea of healthy foods.
