Food is the fuel of our body; as petrol or diesel produces energy to drive a car, food germinates energy through metabolism to drive our life and life related activities. Often we use food as a means of living than as a material we are prone to consume, or an item we are fond of. Since childhood we blend the association of favorite foods with cuddling and pampering, and from this set of mind the tendency to eat more than our physical requirement is generated and the habit gets fixed in our psychological frame of mind.
If we like to analyze the reason for over eating, we need to understand the trigger for over intake. In our social life or in personal celebration, we tend to keep food as our prime item to celebrate which triggers relaxation by eating at the liberty of taste and tongue, not from the point of requirement.

Imposing self-discipline on this habit is the only way to prevent over eating in this situation. Some people indulge on eating while under stress and takes excess food out of anxiety. Normally, we feel full after 20 minutes after the actual point of saturation, and by this time we indulge on over eating.

Slow eating is another way to prevent eating under stress. If you feel hungry, you can indulge on slow sip on a glass full plain water or lemon water; this consumption will surely take you away from your immediate urge for food.
Over eating triggers a lot of life threatening disease like obesity, heart disease, kidney problem etc. and may damage the profile of a person. Therefore at the time of extra eating or attempt for frequent eating if we remember the negative consequences, it will be the easiest way to avoid overeating.
