Anxiety Disorder Symptoms
Anxiety is natural human emotion; hardly there is any person who has never experienced anxiety in his life time. There are many situations where a person may feel anxious; however, anxiety disorders are different than anxiety and may cause severe strain and stress in the life of the victim of this disorder and can hamper an individual’s normal course of activities.
Anxiety disorder is a gruesome mental illness; those who are victims of anxiety disorder, they suffer from constant spell of overwhelming worry and fear which can be of great distress in its effect.
There are different types of anxiety disorders like panic disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder.
The victims of panic disorder suffer from sudden panic disorder without showing any prior signal. Sweating, chest pain, irregular heart beats, and feeling of suffocation are common symptoms for panic disorder which seems to be similar to heart attack.
People suffering from obsessive–compulsive disorder get haunted by constant spell of fear, which make them obsessive about some particular actions. The confused thoughts are called obsession and the actions are termed as compulsion. The prime symptom for this anxiety disorder is relentless repetition of a particular action like washing hands etc.
Post-traumatic stress disorder develops as a result of certain trauma such as physical or sexual assault or trauma related to emotional crisis. People with post-traumatic disorder often suffer from frightening memory of the past and leads life with certain morbid views.
Social anxiety disorder is also termed as social phobia, which involves shakiness about everyday social situations. Specific phobias are specific fear on certain objects; this kind of fear often proves to be inappropriate but the phobia imposes an escaping tendency in the patient from the specific phobia related situations.
Generalized anxiety disorder involves excessive worry and tension about in everyday situation without any particular reason to worry about.
There are certain general symptoms for anxiety disorder problem although some specific symptoms are observed in the patients suffering from the particular type of anxiety disorder.
In general, the symptoms for anxiety disorder are unusual and meaningless uneasiness, panic, fear, spell of obsessive thoughts, remembering the traumatic experience, frequent spell of nightmares, obsessive behavior like washing hands without any reason, disturbed sleep, cold or sweaty palms, acute shortness of breath, irregular and rapid heartbeat[palpitations], unconditional restlessness, dry mouth syndrome etc.
The patients of anxiety disorder often suffer from severe muscle tension, dizziness, numbness in hands and feet, and frequent spell of nausea.
