Andropause in Men

Andropause is the termination of male puberty and it is observed by low count of testosterone hormone in males. Between the ages of 40 and 55 an abrupt drop of hormone level is observed in men, although the date and time to set andropause in, cannot be calculated exactly in men because there is no clear signaling evidence in men like women.

But the associated symptoms remain the same like mood swing, feeling of irritation, deficiency of calcium in bone, and acute loss of physical dexterity, sex drive, and in energy level. The acute drop down of testosterone hormone level impacts on weakening of bones and tending to create heart problem, and due to loss of agility, suddenly the emotional crisis becomes acute.

However, the main difference between menopause and andropause is menopause sets in specific age group in women but in case of andropause the set in period is prolong and it varies from one person to other.

When there is low testosterone level working in hormonal arrangement, it impacts negatively on the target organs where the testosterone target organs reduce their responses and many changes set in the life of the affected person like loss of muscular strength, abrupt decrease in muscle mass, behavioral change and emotional crisis, cardiovascular trouble, low sex drive, and acute chance to be attacked by osteoporosis due to calcium deficiency. Presently, there is effective remedy like testosterone therapy to minimize the adverse effect of andropause; however, there are a few limitations to implant this kind of treatment procedure if the patient is suffering from prostrate cancer or from male breast cancer.

There are some other health conditions where application of testosterone therapy is not recommended and in these cases the decision of doctor is ultimate. Diabetes, heart diseases, liver problem, edema, problem in kidney, and enlarged prostrate are some of physical conditions where testosterone therapy is strictly prohibited.
